  • Newspapers from veterans' hometowns, for example the Freeborn County Standard in Albert Lea.

Dates:

  • October 1917: 151st begins service in France
  • November 17, 1918: Germany surrenders
  • May 8, 1919: 151st returns to Minnesota
  • May 23, 1919: Presentation of the 151st's colors on the steps of the state capitol

The Minnesota Historical Society holds the world's largest collection of Minnesota newspapers, with dates ranging from 1849 to the present day.

Past issues of most newspaper titles are available on microfilm in the MNHS library, but there is also digital access to select newspapers
