  • May 2, 1878: Washburn 'A' Mill explosion
  • Sept.8, 1903: Flour millers' strike
  • Oct. 2, 1924: Washburn-Crosby Company took over failing radio station WLAG, renamed it WCCO, and began broadcasting
  • 1928: General Mills formed
  • 1952: Corporate headquarters moved to Golden Valley
  • June 18, 2000: General Mills bought Pillsbury from Diageo

Past issues of most newspaper titles are available on microfilm in the MNHS library, but there is also digital access to select newspapers
