State Parks of Minnesota: Overview

Overview

The Minnesota State Park system is the second oldest park system in the United States. With over 60 parks state-wide, with the oldest dating back to 1891, there are many historic records at the Minnesota Historical Society to help your research. Materials range from historic narratives, to State Archives materials addressing the creation and maintenance of the parks, to newsletters and other publications created by the parks themselves. Our images, maps, and trail guides are also here to help paint a picture of the parks throughout the ages.
