Mart Aerial Photo Collection
Aerial photographs of rural and urban areas in Minnesota taken by Mart for his specialized advertising business, Zenith Pictorial Advertising, Inc. located in Spencer, Iowa. Mart flew his small plane over highways throughout the state (except for the northeast and Iron Range regions) and took photographs of towns, farms, grain elevators, schools, manufacturing plants, resorts, etc. He used the photographs on advertising specialties and commemorative items that he sold to businesses and individuals. Aerial photographs could be imprinted on calendars, pens, stationery, plates, pins, coffee mugs, playing cards, business cards, postcards and Christmas cards. The business also produced enlarged images, often hand tinted by his wife, Elizabeth.
