1890 Veteran's Census

Civil War soldier group

Conducted in 1890, this census lists Civil War veterans who served for the Union, as well as veterans' widows.

The records for states at the end of the alphabet--Kentucky through Wyoming--still exist, but the records for Alabama to Kansas do not.  Some records include information gathered from those who served in Navy Yards or on US Naval Vessels.
